Create reports for OTT apps


For all OTT Apps, JWP tracks a suite of video engagement analytics. You can use these engagement analytics to help you learn more about the types of content that delight your viewers.

OTT Apps Custom Reports


Video engagement analytics for individual viewers can be captured through a subscription or user registration service, such as Cleeng.

We suggest creating the following three reports to help you identify which video engagement analytics are important to your business.

You can also create and customize your own Custom Reports from your JWP dashboard or query the Management API v2.



Suggested Usage Analytics Reports


Usage by Video

Discover which videos your viewers are watching. The results of this report will help you decide what content you should focus on acquiring or promoting.

Use the following steps to create a Usage by Video report:

  1. On the Custom Reports page, click Create Report. The Report Builder panel appears.
  2. For the Type of data, select OTT Apps. This option provides aggregated reporting for your OTT Apps.
  3. From the Date Range dropdown menu, select 7 Days.
  4. Under Metrics, choose the following metrics: Ad Impressions, Plays, Time Watched, and Unique Viewers.

    If you are not monetizing your OTT apps with ads, do not include Ad Impressions.

  5. Under Group By, choose Media.
  6. Click RUN REPORT. After the report completes, the results are displayed.
  7. Click Untitled Report and name the report.
  8. Click Save Report.

After running this report for the first time, you can schedule your report.

Usage by Platform

Learn which platforms -- for example, Roku, Fire, Apple, Android, Web -- are most popular or whether there is an impact from certain marketing campaigns.

Use the following steps to create a Usage by Platform report:

  1. On the Custom Reports page, click Create Report. The Report Builder panel appears.
  2. For the Type of data, select OTT Apps. This option provides aggregated reporting for your OTT Apps.
  3. From the Date Range dropdown menu, select 7 Days.
  4. Under Metrics, choose the following metrics: Ad Impressions, Time Watched, and Unique Viewers.
  5. Under Group By, choose Platform.
  6. Click RUN REPORT. After the report completes, the results are displayed.
  7. Click Untitled Report and name the report.
  8. Click Save Report.

After running this report for the first time, you can schedule your report.



Usage by Playlist

Uncover how viewers navigated to your content. Use this to update and assess the contents of the home page and menu bar.

If you see a NULL playlist in your report results, this indicates that viewers navigated directly to your content from external sources like social media or search engines.


Use the following steps to create a Usage by Playlist report:

  1. On the Custom Reports page, click Create Report. The Report Builder panel appears.
  2. For the Type of data, select OTT Apps. This option provides aggregated reporting for your OTT Apps.
  3. From the Date Range dropdown menu, select 7 Days.
  4. Under Metrics, choose the following metrics: Ad Impressions, Time Watched, and Unique Viewers.
  5. Under Group By, choose Playlist.
  6. Click RUN REPORT. After the report completes, the results are displayed.
  7. Click Untitled Report and name the report.
  8. Click Save Report.

After running this report for the first time, you can schedule your report.
