You can restrict an individual cloud-hosted or registered video to viewers in certain countries. Use the following sections to manage geoblocking rules for a video.



• Geoblocking rules apply only to the content played within a player. Player libraries are not impacted by geoblocking rules.

• **Only Admin user accounts can create and manage geoblocking rules.** Manager and Content Editor user accounts can only apply and remove geoblocking rules from content.

## Create a geoblocking rule

Use the following video and steps to create a geoblocking rule for a video.


  1. From your <a href="https://dashboard.jwplayer.com/">JWP dashboard</a>, click the cog next to your name > **Properties**. The **Properties** page appears.

  2. Click the name of a property.

  3. On the **Content Protection** tab in the **Media Geoblocking** section, click **Create**. The **Create Geoblocking Rule** panel appears.

  4. Enter a **Rule Name**.

  5. Select a **Rule Type**: <br /><br /> **Allow**: Allow a specific list of locations to view this media <br /> **Deny**: Block a specific list of locations from viewing this media

  6. In the **Locations** dropdown menu, click the names of the countries to apply to the rule. The names of the countries appear in a list beneath the dropdown menu. <br /><br /> If you need to remove a country, click the country name in the list beneath the dropdown menu. <br /><br />

  7. Click **Save**.

You can now add the geoblocking rule to videos.

## Add a geoblocking rule to videos

### Single Video

  1. From your <a href="https://dashboard.jwplayer.com/p/media">Media Library</a>, click the name of a video. The video settings will appear.

  2. On the **Advanced Settings** tab under **Content Protection**, select an existing geoblocking rule from the dropdown menu.

  3. Click **Save**.

### Multiple Videos

  1. From your <a href="https://dashboard.jwplayer.com/p/media">Media Library</a>, click the checkbox next to each video to include in a geoblocking rule. The checkbox appears when you hover over the row of a video.

  2. Click **Add Protection Rules**. The **Add Content Protection** popup window appears.

  3. From the dropdown menu, **Choose an existing geoblocking rule**.

  4. Click **Add**.

## Edit a video geoblocking rule

  1. From your <a href="https://dashboard.jwplayer.com/">JWP dashboard</a>, click the cog next to your name > **Properties**. The **Properties** page appears.

  2. Click the name of a property.

  3. On the **Content Protection** tab in the **Media Geoblocking** section, hover over the rule you want to edit and click **⋯ > Edit**. The **Edit Geoblocking Rule** panel appears.

  4. Edit the **Rule Name**, **Rule Type**, or **Locations** sections.

  5. Click **Save**.

## Delete a video geoblocking rule



Deleting a geoblocking rule is permanent and immediately removes geoblocking settings from all associated videos.

  1. From your <a href="https://dashboard.jwplayer.com/">JWP dashboard</a>, click the gear icon next to your name > **Properties**.

  2. Click the name of a property.

  3. On the **Content Protection** tab in the **Media Geoblocking** section, hover over the rule you want to delete and click **⋯** > **Delete**.

The rule will be deleted and removed from all videos associated. The global <a href="/platform/docs/protection-set-a-geoblocking-rule-for-a-property">property geoblocking setting</a>, if enabled, will be applied back to these videos.
