Manage audio tracks
Edit and update audio tracks from the JWX dashboard
JWX enables you to edit the name, language, and language code of default and alternate audio tracks. Managing your audio track metadata allows you to do the following:
- Clearly show the language of the audio track in the player
- Ensure the audio track has the correct language code for any custom player or application integrations
- Remove unwanted alternate tracks from media playback
Edit an audio track
You can edit the metadata of default and alternate audio tracks from the dashboard.
You can also update auto-extracted tracks by replacing the existing media.
Default audio tracks

Default audio settings
Follow these steps to edit a default audio track:
- From the Media library, click the name of the video. The media details page appears.
- Beneath the preview player, click the Tracks tab.
- In the Audio section, click Manage. The Audio tracks panel appears.
- Under Default audio, click ⋯ > Edit. The audio track fields appear.
- (Optional) Enter a new alphanumeric Display name for the audio track.
The Display name will appear as the audio track option in the player.
- (Optional) Enter the Language and Language code for the audio track.
The Language code must correspond to an accepted ISO code.
- Click Save.
Alternate audio tracks

Follow these steps to edit an alternate audio track:
- From the Media library, click the name of the video. The media details page appears.
- Beneath the preview player, click the Tracks tab.
- In the Audio section, click Manage. The Audio tracks panel appears.
- Under Alternate audio, click the Auto-extracted or Uploaded tab. A list of alternate audio tracks appears.
- In the tile of your desired audio track, click ⋯ > Edit. The audio track fields appear.
- (Optional) Enter a new alphanumeric Display name for the audio track.
The Display name will appear as the audio track option in the player.
- (Optional) Select the Audio type from the dropdown menu.
- (Optional) Enter the Language and Language code for the audio track.
The Language code must correspond to an accepted ISO code.
- Click Save.
Download an audio track
You can download default and alternate audio tracks from the dashboard.
If you are a developer or have developer resources, you can use the Management API to download an audio track:
- To download a default audio track, get a media rendition. This endpoint returns all video rendition URLs as well as the default audio track URL.
- To download an alternate audio track, get an audio rendition. This endpoint returns all the alternate audio track URLs associated with a media item.

Follow these steps to download a default audio track:
- From the Media library, click the name of the video. The media details page appears.
- Beneath the preview player, click the Tracks tab.
- In the Audio section, click Manage. The Audio tracks panel appears.
- Under Default audio, click ⋯ > Download file. The audio track opens in a new browser tab.
- Download the audio track to your local device from the new browser tab.
Alternate audio tracks
Follow these steps to download an alternate audio track:
- From the Media library, click the name of the video. The media details page appears.
- Beneath the preview player, click the Tracks tab.
- In the Audio section, click Manage. The Audio tracks panel appears.
- Under Alternate audio, click the Auto-extracted or Uploaded tab. The audio track opens in a new browser tab.
- In the tile of your desired audio track, click ⋯ > Download file. The audio track fields appear.
- Download the audio track to your local device from the new browser tab.
Delete an alternate audio track
Deleting an audio track from the dashboard is irreversible.
You can delete an auto-extracted audio track, but it will be recreated if the media is re-uploaded or trimmed.

- From the Media library, click the name of the video. The media details page appears.
- Beneath the preview player, click the Tracks tab.
- In the Audio section, click Manage. The Audio tracks panel appears.
- Under Alternate audio, click the Uploaded tab. A list of alternate audio tracks appears.
- In the tile of your desired audio track, click ⋯ > Delete. The track is deleted.
