Set geoblocking rules for videos
You can restrict an individual cloud-hosted or registered video to viewers in certain countries.
Be mindful of the following when setting geoblocking rules:
- Geoblocking rules apply only to the content played within a player. Player libraries are not impacted by geoblocking rules.
- Only Admin user accounts can create and manage geoblocking rules. Manager and Content Editor user accounts can only apply and remove geoblocking rules from content.
Create a geoblocking rule

Create media rule panel
Follow these steps to create a geoblocking rule for a video:
- On the Properties page, click the name of a property. The property settings appear.
- Under Content & ad enhancements, click Content protection. The Content protection tab appears.
- Under Media geoblocking section, click Create media rule. The Create media rule panel appears.
- Enter a Rule name.
- Select a Rule type:
- Allow: Allow a specific list of locations to view this media
- Deny: Block a specific list of locations from viewing this media
- From the Locations dropdown menu, click the name of a country to apply to the rule. The name of the country appears beneath the dropdown menu.
If you need to remove a country, click the country name in the list beneath the dropdown menu.
- (Optional) Repeat step 6 to add another country to the rule.
- Click Save. The panel closes and the geoblocking rule appears under Media geoblocking.
You can now add the geoblocking rule to videos.

Single Media

Adding geoblocking to a single media
Follow these steps to add a geoblocking rule:
- From your Media library, click the name of a media item. The media settings appear.
- On the Advanced settings tab, under Content protection, select an existing geoblocking rule from the dropdown menu.
- Click Save.
Multiple Media

Adding geoblocking to multiple media
Follow these steps to add a geoblocking rule:
- From your Media library, click the checkbox next to each media item to include in a geoblocking rule.
The checkbox appears when you hover over the row of a media item.
- Click Add protection rules. The Add content protection popup window appears.
- From the dropdown menu, Choose an existing geoblocking rule.
- Click Add.
Edit a video geoblocking rule
Follow these steps to edit a geoblocking rule:
- On the Properties page, click the name of a property. The property settings appear.
- Under Content & ad enhancements, click Content protection. The Content protection tab appears.
- Under Media geoblocking, hover over the row of the user to expose ⋯ (More actions icon) at the end of the row.
- Click ⋯ > Edit. The Edit geoblocking rule panel appears.
- Edit the Rule name, Rule type, or Locations sections.
- Click Save.
Delete a video geoblocking rule
Deleting a geoblocking rule is permanent and immediately removes geoblocking settings from all associated media.
Follow these steps to delete a geoblocking rule:
- On the Properties page, click the name of a property. The property settings appear.
- Under Content & ad enhancements, click Content protection. The Content protection tab appears.
- Under Media geoblocking section, hover over the row of the user to expose ⋯ (More actions icon) at the end of the row.
- Click ⋯ > Delete.
The rule will be deleted and removed from all media associated. The global property geoblocking setting, if enabled, will be applied back to these media.
