Trim a video

You can trim any video on demand (VOD) or live-to-VOD media from your JWP dashboard.

Trimming videos allows you to create more polished content:

  • Manage edits directly in the dashboard
  • Remove unwanted footage from the start or end of live event recordings
  • Create clean and focused videos for on-demand viewing

📘

If using Instant Live, you can create clips of the live event after it has ended. If using Broadcast Live, you can create clips during an active live stream or after it has ended.

FAQs

What types of videos can be trimmed in the dashboard?

All videos can be trimmed in the dashboard. However, playback in the trimming tool is only available if the original media file is supported by your browser.

Can I retrim a video later?

Yes, you can retrim a media item in the future. However, JWP does not store the original file in its exact form. Please keep a local copy of your original files.

How does trimming a video affect captions?

When a video is trimmed, all auto-extracted and manually uploaded caption tracks are retained with the same text and timestamps as the full-length version. If auto-extracted captions were in the original file, an additional version will be generated.

🚧

Since timestamps do not automatically update, we strongly recommend editing your caption tracks to match the trimmed video.
