Replace or update an existing upload
Over time, you may need to replace a video due to new edits, corrected content, or production issues. Reuploading a video in the JWX Platform lets you replace the existing media file while keeping the same media ID, embed code, and playback URLs used on your site or application.
Reupload a media item
When reuploading or replacing a video asset in the JWX Platform, engagement analytics may be inconsistent if your reporting range includes dates before and after the update. This occurs because analytics collected for the original upload and the replacement upload remain associated with the same media ID.
The following changes also occur to audio and caption tracks:
- The default audio track is re-extracted and saved. Any edits to its name, language, or language code must be reapplied.
- Auto-extracted alternate audio tracks and caption tracks are re-extracted and saved. An additional version of the auto-extracted caption tracks will appear. Previous edits to auto-extracted audio track metadata must be reapplied.
- Manually uploaded alternate audio tracks are deleted.
- Manually uploaded or created caption tracks are retained. There is a 50 caption track limit per media.
