Add content to the landing page

Learn how to customize the content on the landing page of an app.




The landing page of an app is organized in shelves that highlight the most relevant videos to a user.

Each shelf is a subset of the app content organized by popularity or publication date:

  • New Action Movies
  • What's Trending
  • Award Winners
  • Recently Added

You can also use sort and filter features to construct the content on these shelves.



Add content

Use the following steps to add content to the landing page:

  1. From the Apps page, click the name of the app config. The settings for the app config appear.
  2. On the Landing Page tab, from the dropdown menu, choose a playlist.
  3. Click Add. The playlist appears on a shelf below the dropdown menu. Each shelf inherits the name of the and displays a poster image for several media items in the playlist.
  4. Drag and drop a playlist shelf to re-order it in the list.
  5. Set the Featured shelf to the landing page of the app.
  6. Enable a Favorites shelf.
  7. Enable a Continue Watching shelf.
  8. Enable Search.
  9. Enable Recommend Related Content.
  10. (Optional) Click Preview. A new browser tab opens displaying an interactive preview of the app.


Set the Featured shelf


In a new app config, the first playlist added is set as the Featured shelf. The Featured shelf highlights unique videos and is typically manually curated. You can always choose a different playlist to feature.

  1. On the Landing Page tab, hover over the row of a playlist. The row changes to black and reveals a star next to the playlist's name.
  2. Click the star icon. The playlist appears at the top of the list on the Landing Page tab.

    Multiple shelves can be denoted to a featured playlist. When multiple featured playlists exist, they can be reordered.

  3. Click Save.


Enable Favorites


The Favorites shelf displays all the videos that a viewer has starred to watch later. When a registered viewer is logged in, the Favorites shelf can be accessed across all your apps.

Use the following steps to enable the Favorites shelf:

  1. On the Landing Page tab in the FAVORITES LIST row, click the toggle to ON. The Favorites list settings appear.
  2. Click Create new Watchlist. The Create Watchlist popup window appears.
  3. Enter a Watchlist Name.
  4. Click Confirm.
  5. (Optional) In the Name field, rename the Favorites list. By default, Favorites is the name given to this shelf.
  6. Click Close.


Enable Continue Watching


You can display a Continue Watching shelf on the landing page and list recent partially-watched videos for viewers with a viewing history. When registered viewers log in, they can access the Continue Watching shelf across all your apps.

Use the following steps to enable the Continue Watching shelf:

  1. On the Landing Page tab in the CONTINUE WATCHING LIST row, click the toggle to ON. The Continue Watching list settings appear.
  2. Click Create new Watchlist. The Create Watchlist popup window appears.
  3. Enter a Watchlist Name.
  4. Click Confirm.
  5. (Optional) In the Name field, enter a name for the Continue Watching list. By default, Continue Watching is the name given to this shelf.
  6. Click Close.


Enable Search


When enabled, this feature allows viewers to use a search box to explore your content library.

Use the following steps to enable this feature:

  1. In the Search section, click the toggle to ON.
  2. From the dropdown menu, select a search playlist from the dropdown menu.

    If no playlist is listed, create a new search playlist.

  3. Click Save.


Enable Recommended Related Content


When enabled, this feature displays a Related Videos shelf below the video being watched to promote new content to the viewer.

Recommendations playlists only use data from web app viewers.


Use the following steps to enable this feature:

  1. In the Recommend Related Content section, click the toggle ON.
  2. From the dropdown menu, select a Recommendations playlist.

    You can select the Default Recommendations Feed or create a new Recommendations playlist.

  3. Click Save.
